On the mend

The last few days have been kinda hard. Long, boring, scarey, emotional, I have experienced a little of it all. Today they are doing so much better! We are looking to come home tomorrow (Saturday) but we won't know for sure until the morning when the pediatrician comes and sees them. She was pretty confident they would be ready to go with some oxygen. So that would be wonderful!

Today my mom came down again (she has been here everyday, it has been wonderful). I was able to leave her with the bubbas and go home and feel human for a little bit. I picked Jeni up from school and went and got Kaitlyn from Josh's parents (they have been watching the girls the past few days for us). I went home and the girls packed while I took a shower. When we first got home I saw Jenica in the boys room with her chin rested on their dresser. I went in to see what she was doing. She was looking at the framed pics of the bubbas, and her eyes were all welled up with tears. It was so sad. It made me cry. I have missed my girls so much!! And they obviously have missed the babies! I brought the girls up to the hospital to see the bubbys and then my mom took the girls home with her for the rest of the weekend!!

Some of the (medical) highlights from today include:
*Julian being downgraded to the bulb suction instead of the deep suctioning (HUGE STEP)
*Julian was taken off of oxygen completely for a bit over an hour! Then it dipped when I started to feed him and he had to get put back on...but still only a low amount.
*Both boys lungs were sounding a lot clearer and for quite a bit today you wouldn't even hear them breathing! :)

Anyways, I planned on writing more, but I am feeling really tired again! Blah! Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. And visits from our home teacher, elders quorum pres, bishop, my brother for coming over late wednesday night to give blessings to the boys, and my mom for hanging out with me all day (for 3 days..hehe)!! We appreciate it so much!! I am so happy the boys are getting better! I am so glad that they are in such good hands at such a good hospital! I will keep you all updated with what happens tomorrow!! xoxo

RSV

Just thought I would try to briefly let you know what has been going on.

All the kiddos have been sick, that you already know. On Tuesday I realized that Julian hadn't had a wet diaper in over 24 hours. Then he finally barely had one and it had dark orange smudges in it...so I was worried and called the dr's office.

They told me to go to the ER and have him checked for dehydration unless I could get him to eat and keep it down in the next hour or so. (He had thrown up 4 times that day). So we got him to eat and he kept it down and even peed, so we thought it was safe to keep him home.

Wednesday morning we woke up, Jonathan was crying, ready to eat, like usual. Julian on the other hand was just laying there, weak and pale. I fed him and he barfed. Then he barfed again. I tried to see if we could just get him into the dr to see what was going on, but when I tried to schedule an appt they wanted me to speak with a nurse first. I knew they were going to send me to the ER, so I skipped waiting on hold for half an hour and loaded the bubbas into the van and we headed for the hospital.

Got checked into the ER thinking we just needed an iv and some fluid. Every little one they took in to exam came back out with an oxygen tank. Well...so did Julian. His O2 sat was at 73. 5 1/2 hours later, 4 pokes trying to get an IV started (including his poor head), 2 pokes in the finger to re-test his blood, lots of blood pressure checks, hot packs on the hands and feet trying to dialate the veins, and a urine test (through a catherter...) later he was admitted to the hospital and we were in a room.

They weren't going to let me keep Jonathan with us, but we convinced them to because I am nursing them both. So we have no idea how long we'll be here. Could be a day or two (obviously not a day now...) or 2 weeks. Yikes. So this morning the ped said he could maybe go home tomorrow on oxygen. And then today Jonathans O2 sat dropped and he was admitted and is now chillin with his bro on oxygen as well!

They moved us to another floor into a different room where they can be together! We will see how the night goes and what the dr says tomorrow. Hopefully within the next day or 2 we will be home. I hate being in the hospital. I planned to write in more detail, but I am feeling suddenly exhausted! I am going to go down and grab Josh and I a treat before he heads to my brothers place for the night. I am going to stay here with the bubbas. The girls are being taken care of by family so we are doing well!! I will update you again tomorrow hopefully!!

Blessings!

We are all on the mend now...for the most part, but the bubbas are still sounding pretty sick. They are wheezing still and coughing/hacking. It's really sad.

I really just want them to get better, it's so hard to have them be so miserable. Tonight I put them in the bathroom on my lap and ran a hot shower with the door shut to make it steamy. Then I gave them a bath together which they loved for the most part. Once I got them out I started rubbing some vicks baby rapor rub on their chests...Jonathan was first, he didn't mind it and I put lotion on him and got him in his jammies. Then I rubbed some on Julian, started putting lotion on him, and then he started coughing. It was really scaring me! He would breath in just a tiny bit, enough to push out a cough! He kept doing it over and over for a few minutes and there is no way he was getting enough oxygen. He was bright red. It was freaking me out! I wasn't sure if my in-laws were home because they had gone to dinner or something. So I picked up my mostly naked baby (just a diaper) and wrapped him in a blanket. I was going to run to a neighbors house and ask for a blessing for him, but as soon as I ran out the front door Josh's mom was walking out her front door. So I knew she was home and ran over there. His dad hurried out and gave Julian a blessing while his mom was over at my house with the other kids (Josh was still at work)!

His coughing fit stopped and he started breathing so much better. Then my father in law came back home with me and gave Jonathan a blessing as well. Now they are laying on the couch, sound asleep! They are still coughing a little, but their breathing sounds so much better! I am so thankful for the preisthood and the blessings that my babies were able to receive tonight! I know it has helped them so much! :)

Mississippi

So I lied. :P

I keep remembering some funny things that Jenica says, and I wanted to share.

A few weeks ago she was sitting at the table painting her spelling words (trying to get creative here...she's getting a little burned out on writing each word 5 times...). Kaitlyn was across the table from her painting a picture. Jeni was telling her about the sub they had at school and things that had happend at school that day. Jeni said, "Today the teacher we had made us write Mississippi!". Then Kaitlyn asks, "What's Mississippi?"

Jenica says, "I don't know...some teachers name or something..." I sat there for a second thinking "huh?" and then oooooooh! She thought she was saying Mrs Sippi. :)

Catching Up!

Now that I have posted a ton today, I will make this my last!

Just make sure you scroll down and see all my picture pages I posted! I don't feel like I have been that busy, but then again...look at me! I have 2 bubbas that need my full attention! They are becoming more work than they were when they were newborns, probably due to them being awake lots more than they used to be! :) But they are the greatest little guys I know! I love this picture!

I will again tell you all how sorry I am for my lengthy absence from the blogging world and try to promise that I will do better! I guess I just felt like I was so far behind that there would be no way to catch up! Maybe I just really want to post my Christmas pictures!? I suppose I will just post things that I think are important as them come to mind!

Yay for being back! You know it's been too long when your husband starts asking when you are going to blog again! :)

Sick Week!

I cannot believe that February is already HALF over! Seriously! Why does time have to go so fast? My bubbas are almost 5 months old! In 2 days my (2nd) baby will be FIVE!! And then a week later my (1st) baby will be SEVEN! Whoa! I don't know how that happened! How am I already the mother of a 7 year old...and the mother of 4 children?!?!I've been doing great! Tired, but great! This week was not so great, but it's bound to be that way some time, right? Last Sunday night Jonathan was really really fussy. Yah, so babies get fussy, but not my babies. They have been the best babies, sleeping through the night for nearly a month and a half. He was up several times that night, never to eat, but crying! Poor boy. The next morning when I got up to feed them he felt warm and had a temp of 103. I gave him some tylenol and he went down a 1 degree. He was pretty fussy all day, that afternoon I took his temp and it was 101. I gave him some more tylenol and called the dr. They said since he was recently sick with a cold I should bring him in. His fever was gone by the time we had gotten there. Isn't that they way it ALWAYS works?

She checked him and his chest sounded great, throat looked great, but she couldn't get a good look at his ears! She tried using some tiny qtips and getting some of the wax out, after several tries she had the nurst come in to clean out his ears. Poor guy...he HATED that! They got so much wax out. She came back to check and looked and said there was still too much and tried to get some more out with the tiny qtips, by then he was freaking out. She said she felt bad, had tortured him enough and decided to treat him for an ear infection. She said with the previous cold, sudden fever, and everything else looking great, she just had to assume that's what he had. So...off to the pharmacy to pick up my little ones first medication. Sad. :(

While we were at the dr's office Kaitlyn started telling me her head was hurting. By the time we got home she was really complainging of a major pain in her head. I gave her some tylenol and put her to bed. She had a fever all night and Jenica was also up all night coughing. What the heck!? The next day Jeni said her throat hurt and she stayed home from school coughing the day away (besides the sore throat). Kaitlyn had a fever pretty much all day, and her voice sounded really scratchy, but come wednesday she was back to normal. Thank goodness. Jeni stayed home wednesday and thursday from school. She's had a fever, sore throat, horrible cough by this point. Jonathan was pretty much back to normal and Julian was my only healthy child. Then out of the blue he spikes a fever and starts hacking and weezing!

Jenica went to school on Friday, when I picked her up she had a major boogery nose. Great. Add that to the list. Kaitlyn started sounding scratchy again. Saturday everyone was about the same, exept now Jonathan has whatever Julian has. So now we have 2 hacking/weezing babies! Will it ever end? Julian has been waking up a lot the last few nights. Sometimes he just cries and cries and nothing helps, but luckily most of the time he just wants his binky! We stayed home from church today, obviously you all know why! And this morning Josh told me he woke up last night and Jeni was throwing up! Seriously...do we really have to throw that one in the mix? Luckily she hasn't done anymore of that. By this evening the bubbas are starting to sound a little better, so that's good. Here's to hoping that his week is better!

Did I mention that I have been sick too? Guess that kinda takes the back burner when you have a family to take care of! And I just have to tell you all how awesome my friend Aimee is! She brought us dinner on Thursday night! The most delicious Beef Stew and corn bread muffins. Mmmmm! Comfort food! :)

Back to Blogging!

Whoa! Can you believe it? I am actually blogging! HUGE shocker, I know!

Time has been FLYING by! I wish it would slow down! This year I started a fun project called Life 365. Well, I think it may actually be project 365 or something like that, but I bought the kit from Weeds and Wildflowers called Life 365. Anyways, point is to take a picture every day! It's been a little challenging, but I have stayed on top of it pretty well! Then usually on Saturday evening or Sunday I sit down and make my weekly layout! Now that I have several weeks done it makes me happy! At the end of the year it will be so much fun to print them all and have a nice book of my year! Here is my first page! Guess it's a good way to catch you all up on my year thus far! Enjoy! xoxo
