thumb sucking

Neither of the girls were ever thumb-suckers...Jenica would suck on a couple fingers, but that stopped pretty quickly.  Julian is our thumb-sucker.  I don't know how I feel about it in the long term, but right now it's pretty cute!!  He started it all on his own and can keep himself pretty happy with it.
And if I am putting up a picture of Julian, here is one of Jonathan...so he doesn't feel left out!  :)
I loooove these little outfits.  Carters has been my favorite!  They always seem to be having some big sale and they are always giving me extra 20% off coupons!  I got these the day after thanksgiving and this was their first time wearing them!  Adorable!  But of course the cuteness didn't last much longer than the pictures, because as soon as these were taken I went to change Julian and he had pooped clear up his back.  Fun times.  This just barely started happening for them.  And it's even more fun when they both do it at the same time!

So I got Julian all washed up in the sink and was getting his jammies on and Jenica brought me the camera and wanted me to take a picture of her!  She looks pretty stinkin' cute!
After I was done she took the camera and wanted to take a picture of me.  I told her no because I looked gross.  She said no, you look pretty.  What a sweet girl.  I suppose I don't look as nasty as I thought I did!  Here's me and Julian!
We have gotten quite a bit of snow in last the week!  The girls have been sooo excited to go sledding so the other day I pulled the sleds out for them and they had tons of fun!  It's great that there is a part right behind out house with a nice little sledding hill.  I can watch them from the house and stay nice and warm.  Josh is out there with them right now!

Confessions of a 6 year old

This comes after countless arguing over trying to get this girl to help me clean.

Jenica:  "Mom...I was born not to like cleaning!"
Me: "Me too..."

2 weeks?!

Once again, not quite sure where the time has gone!   I cannot believe it has been 2 weeks since I last blogged (well now 2 weeks + 2 days...yikes).  So I suppose I will try to briefly go through that time!!

Thanksgiving was fun.  Very busy with lots to do, but very fun!  That morning we had a big breakfast with Josh's family and then that afternoon we went to my parents for dinner.
Friday we had a dinner with Josh's dad's side of the family.  Too much fun, they are a riot.  We played a bunch of games and at one point during human rock paper scissors (for lack of a name, that pretty much describes the game) I nearly peed my pants.  Here are the boys with Josh's cousins twin boys.  Too fun having 2 sets in the same family!
And then Saturday we had another dinner with Josh's mom's side of the family.  Again, another fun dinner!

Here are my cute chubby super hero babies!  I can't believe how big they are getting!!  They are starting to smile now quite a bit.  I love it, but I have yet to get any good ones with the camera, because they start smiling, I pull out the camera and they just look at me weird!
Jenica still loves cuddling with them.  The victim in this picture in Julian!
For family night we made a gingerbread house.  Here is the finished project.  It was a lot of (messy) fun!  ...and now the girls can't stop asking if they can eat it!
We blessed the babies on the 7th of this month!  Thanks to all of our family/friends that came!  We had a house full with 40+ people.  It was crazy, but a good time.  Didn't get a great family picture, but here is one that was decent, we're not all looking at the same camera though...guess that's what happens when you have 3 different people taking pictures at once!
And here are my bubbers in their cute blessing outfits.  Thanks for the warning Lizzy about the shedding...although I didn't believe it until we were all completely covered in white hair at church.  hehe  Thank goodness for lint rollers!  They looked adorable!
A couple days before the blessing I was worried we would have to postpone it because Kaitlyn was throwing up!  Poor little girl told me one night that she really wanted to eat her dinner, but her tummy was telling her not to!  Minutes later she was running to the bathroom.  The next time around she didn't quite make it to the toilet.  She puked on the family room floor, in the hallway a little, on the bathroom floor which she ended up slipping and falling on, all before getting to the toilet.  The next time she didn't get up at all...infact she didn't wake up.  She fell asleep on the couch next to me and I was feeding the babies.  We had a barf bowl nearby, but a little out of my reach.  She threw up on her blanket and never woke up.  I was trying to wake her up but no luck.  I finally managed to grab the bowl, while still feeding the babies, and held it under her face.  But she wouldn't wake up.  It was quite frustrating.  Luckily it was like a 24 hour thing and the next morning she was just fine!

I was hoping no one else would get sick.  But the next week I got a call from the office at Jenica's school telling me I needed to come pick her up.  Poor thing.  They were having singing time, all the 1st grade classes were together practicing their christmas songs and when they stood up Jenica threw up all over.  It was all over her shirt sleeves, a little in her hair, and all over a boys sweater.  I felt so sad for her, she told me she was so embarrassed she threw up in front of the entire first grade.  We kept her home the next day just to be safe, but hers too was just a 24 hour thing!!

Ok, enough about puke!  I need to wrap this up...it's getting way too late, and I need my sleep!  :/  This last weekend was Josh's work Christmas party.  It was at the JSMB on the 9th floor.  A very nice dinner.  It was a lot of fun and I love getting dressed up for it!  Only bad thing was the saturday was a huge snow storm.  We learned that the van handles pretty well in the snow.  We headed up to my parents in the morning because we were supposed to go make gingerbread houses with  my sister in laws and their kids.  But none of them ended up going because of the snow, so we were the only ones.  We hung out all day, it was my moms birthday!  It was lovely!  Then that night we went to the party while my parents watched all the kids.  It was so much fun!  Our 2nd date that week!  Are we lucky or what?  Here are some pictures from that night!

Me on the 10th floor, overlooking the temple!
Me and Joshy...my handsome man!  :)
And since that picture was taken by me, someone offered to take our picture! So nice!  :)
And that's all I've got.  Sorry so long, I don't know how to write just a little, but at least now I feel caught up!  Hopefully I can stay caught up!!

Oh, and big news...the boys are sleeping soooo good.  Last night I fed them at 10:30pm and they slept until 5am!  It was fantastic.  Then they slept until 9am.  I fed them, and then we all slept til noon!  :)

2 months old!

I don't know how it happened, but my little bubbies are already 2 months old!  Where did the time go?  I wish it would slow down because it is going waaaay too fast!  I took them to the dr last monday for their 2 month checkup.  They are in the 25th% for height and weight.  Jonathan weighed in at 11 lb 7 oz, and Julian was 11 lb 10 oz.  3 oz apart just like the day they were born.  Sorry I don't remember their heights off the top of my head.  But Julian measured like 1/2 inch shorter than Jonathan.  Weird, but the measuring method isn't exactly the most accurate.  So they are growing good, which made me very happy because sometimes I worry I'm not making enough mommy milk.  But apparently I am, and I haven't had to supplement at all!  Yay!  Here they are sporting their Christmas duds.  :)

Kissing Cousins...

I just wanted to write down some of the funny things that were said/done on Thanksgiving between these 2!

Parker is 10 months older than Jeni, and his sister Paige is 8 months younger than her.  She plays very well with both of them, and as you have heard she is favoring Parker these days.  So I have to back up to the last time the family got together, they came up and told my mom that they "accidentally kissed" on the lips.  I'm sure it was an accident.  So when they showed up on Thanksgiving Paige was the first through the door with Parker close behind.  My mom told me this.  Jeni kinda pushed Paige to the side with her arm and walked right to Parker and started hugging him.  When my mom was telling me this story in the kitchen, the kids were playing behind me.  She also told me that Jeni asked if he still loved her and he said yes.  I turned to Jeni and asked "what about Tommy?"  (He's a boy in her class that she thinks is cute...)  Anyways, Parker says "Who is Tommy?"  The tone of the way he said it was hilarious.

So they played all evening together.  Then I heard another funny story about the 2 of them.  I guess they were sitting next to eachother watching a movie and one of their foster cousins (my brother and wife are foster parents, so we call their kiddos foster cousins) came and sat inbetween them, and Parker says "Hey, you're sitting by my lady".

I'm sure in the years to come they will be grossed out by all of this.  I remember having crushes on some of my cousins when I was little.  Here are some pictures I took.

Is This a Problem?

Ok, so here is a picture that Jenica drew during church today.  Pretty cute, right?  It looked like a mommy and daddy to me with a "baby boy" in the belly.  Then she labeled the girl Jenica, and the boy Parker...
...and by the way, Parker is her cousin!  We keep telling her that cousins can't get married, she doesn't agree though!  I tell her they can be best friends.

Best Pumpkin Bread. Ever.

Yes, you are seeing this right, I am really posting 2 days in a row!  Holy cow, I know!!  This makes my total for November a whopping FOUR!  That's pathetic.

Anyways, I just came here to tell you all what an awesome wife I am!  Seriously.  :) Today is the big soup cook off at Josh's work, and to prepare for it, well...it was quite the ordeal!  I picked Jeni up from school yesterday and headed out to do a little returning and shopping since the power was out here at home.  Anyways, I called Tamara and she saved my life by asking if I could drop the girls off there!  Thank you sooo much Tamara.  :)  So I went to babies r us and got a bunch of onesies, then to Old Navy and returned a couple things, then on the way back North I went to Krispy Kreme for some doughnuts.  The last place I needed to go was to the grocery store to get ingredients for the soup I was going to make.  Which by the way was a creamy chicken noodle soup, the best!!  My friend Danette told me about a new Smiths Marketplace (like fred meyer) they built and I decided to check it out, not that it's anywhere near where I live.  But I was already on the other side of the valley and the boys were still being good so I figured what the heck.

Well, they didn't have the noodles I needed.  The homemade kind of egg noodle.  So I decided I would stop at Walmart because I thought I had seen them there,  So I left a few things on my list that I knew would be cheaper at Walmart.  By now the boys were starting to get a bit fussy.  They wanted to eat.  So I ran into Walmart and got the few other things I needed, except for the stupid noodles.  What I had seen were bags of fettuccine.  Grrr!  So I drove over to Costco because I KNEW they had the noodles.  When I got there I fed the boys in the car in the parking lot, so not the best place to feed 2 babies at the same time, but I made it work.  We ran in and YAY they had the stupid noodles.  I grabbed them back and hurried to get the girls from Tamaras.  I felt so bad because it had taken me an hour and a half longer than I anticipated by the time I finally got there.  First I got stuck waiting for a train, not to mention the horrible traffic because it was 6:00.  Then after that the traffic was hardly moving and I was trying to hurry the best I could, and I think it was making me nuts because I had no control over it.  So I took a new road hoping it would get me where I needed to be, according to my GPS it would, so I gave it a try.  And it was the best decision I made.  It was sooo much fast than waiting through the mess I was in.

I got home and started boiling chicken while I fed the babies and then I got the soup all done and we ate it for dinner last night, I made a double batch.  Since the email about the contest said comfort food I decided I would make some pumpkin bread to send as well.  So I made that at 10 last night.  The recipe makes 3 loafs.  I kept one and am sending 2 with him to work.
Not the best picture, but here is a loaf all sliced and ready to go.  Let me tell you, this is the best bread.  So moist!  Pumpkin has been my go to since I am not eating chocolate.  You must try it!!

  • 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour three 7x3 inch loaf pans.
  • In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, water and sugar until well blended. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. Stir the dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture until just blended. Pour into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for about 50 minutes in the preheated oven. Loaves are done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  • Ok, I better run, I need to get Kiki off to school and then it's back to bed for me while the babies are sleeping!!  :)

    Too much to do!

I bought Wall-E the other day and the kids have been going crazy waiting to watch it with Daddy.  So last night was the night, he let the stay up late to watch it with him.  About 5 minutes into it Kaitlyn was out.  I was shocked that Jeni stayed awake through the whole thing.  And considering how late she was up last night she was really happy this morning.  I was surprised!  Here are all the kiddos, babies included, watching the movie/sleeping.
And Josh was making noises about how bright the flash was in the dark, so I took a picture of him.  And I like it, so I am showing all of you!  :)  He's so handsome!!Yesterday he went to an auction at the U or something like that, and ended up buying 2 older iMacs for $50!  I guess they need a hard drive and some work, but if anyone can fix a computer it's Josh.  So that helps out a lot with the indecision I am having about what to get the girls for Christmas, because no toy is jumping out saying Buy me,  Buy me!!  They just have too many toys that they don't play with now.  So why buy more?  I am looking to tell a HUGE lot of littlest pet shop toys, any takers??  Anyways, it will be really fun for them to have their own little computers.  Then I don't have to deal with them fighting over MY computer.  And at least they are playing around on an educational website.  Starfall.com  it's even the one they use at school when they go to computers!

Now onto my big babies!  I can't believe how much they have grown.  And I almost missed it!  I figured since they still fit into newborn clothes that there was no use getting out the 0-3 month stuff yet.  I got a couple old navy one pieces out that are almost too small.  So I will take them back today to get a 3-6 month instead.  What the heck...that's a huge size range to be wearing...newborn-6month?!  Crazy!  Anyways, here is one of the 3 month outfits I pulled out!  And I think they look adorable!!  The top and vest fit them perfect, the pants are still a little big.  Jonathan wasn't too thrilled to be taking pictures, but Julian tried to give me a little smile, or at least it appears that way!!
While I was dressing them Kaitlyn drew a picture of the boys, so she wanted me to take a picture of her and her picture with them!
She drew the boys and 2 hearts "because they love eachother" she says!  :)
And last weekend during friends and family at Gap I scored these cute little outfits.  To be used when we bless the babies next month!  And the best part, they were only $14!  Sure beats all the $50+ outfits I found online!!  Sorry it's sideways, didn't feel it too important to rotate it!
Hope you all have a good Thursday, and if I don't make it back...have a great weekend too!  I have a million things to do today.  Call my dr and schedule my 6 week appt, even though it's almost been 8, call the pediatrician and schedule the boys 2 month appts, call the dentist and get the girls in for cleanings and kaitlyn has a lot of work needing to be done, get the receipts together and fill out the flexible spending form to submit for some reimbursements, figure out a good soup/comfort food recipe for a contest at josh's work tomorrow, wash and fold some laundry, mop the floor, address birth announcements and finish writing thank you cards.  Holy cow I better get busy, but I guess I will start with something not on my list.  Make lunch.  Then maybe I can get a couple things crossed off before I feed the babies at 1:30 and then leave to get Jeni at 2, and try to stay away from home until around 5.  We are  supposed to have a scheduled power outage from 1-5 today.  I think I am going to run to babiesrus and get some bigger onesies because the newborn ones are getting pretty tight (the only thing they have outgrown so far).  They are buy one get one 1/2 off there.  Then I have a couple things to return to Target and OldNavy.  Ok, I better get busy!  :)  Ciao!

    More Pictures

I can't believe another week has gone by...well more than a week!  I could sit here an apologize and say I'll do better, but I know I won't...I am kept pretty busy with my babies...so maybe I will post more  often and surprise you all!!  :)  On to the pictures (and I just realized that all I put pictures up of are the babies, I need to do better at taking more pictures of the girls as well...right now my life consists of babies and sleeping and more babies...)
I took this one about 5 minutes ago!  I loooooove this quilt!  My Grandma makes amazing quilts and she sent a bunch of quilts she made for the boys for my baby shower.  This one is my most favorite and the boys like to stretch out on it!  Julian is on the top, taking a nap, and Jonathan is half way wrapped in my new lucky-baby sling.  I love it!  I justified the purchase thinking that it would be nice to have to be able to "hold" a baby and get stuff done, because it seems like there is always one that needs me.  This way I can have my hands free.  It's wonderful.  Tonight I wore him while I washed some dishes, made dinner, and a delicious pumpkin roll.  he fell asleep in it pretty quickly and when I laid him down he woke right up.  Go figure...
They are finally fitting into some of their 0-3 month stuff...today they wore these cute onesies.  Jonathan's says My Daddy Rocks, and Julian's is exactly the same, only it says My Mommy Rocks.

These are all from the last week.  I thought it was cute that Josh put them in the same bouncy together, and they didn't seem to mind until they started sucking on eachothers noses.  So it didn't last too long, but cute non the less.
I got these airplane shirts back when I first found out I was having twins.  Mostly because Josh loves airplanes.  So I had to get a picture in them.   And they looked so cute sleeping in the chair.
Last Sunday was the first time we ALL went to church together, since before I was put on bedrest.  It was great to have everyone there together.  And I was proud that we were actually 5 minutes EARLY even with having to haul 4 kids along.  I got these cute little outfits for them to wear to church from Carters.  They were a little big on them, but oh so cute.  Here is Jonathan, and Julian is below, in the blue chair.
And lastly, the other day before Josh went to work, I had just fed the boys and got them dressed.  They were laying on the bed and Josh decided to lay Jonathan on Julian.  It was pretty funny...he was trying to suck on his face.
I have to run now...it's time to feed the little dudes.  I'm glad I found a few minutes to update you all.  And hey, I have soooo many people telling me how cute my blog is and I had no idea they were reading...so if this is you...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave me a comment so I know you were here, then I can check your blogs out too!  Thanks!  :)

    so m a n y pictures, so l i t t l e time!!

Sorry it's been forever since I last posted!!  Here are some pictures from the last week!  Last Thursday I felt like we needed to go visit Josh's grandparents so they could see both babies together since we hadn't seen them since the day the boys were born.  They only got to peek at Julian in the nicu.  So here is Great Grandma Lucy holding Julian, and Great Grandpa Carmon holding Jonathan!  We had a good visit and they enjoyed seeing the boys!My awesome friend Aimee was in line voting and wasn't going to be done in time to pick up her girls from school, so I offered to pick them up and watch them until she was done.  I grabbed them along with Jenica and we watched the new Tinkerbell movie and when Aimee came to get them she cleaned my entire kitchen.  Her girls weren't ready to go home and Matt fell asleep so she put him in one of the cribs and helped me clean up more.  She even watched all the kids while I ran to the bookmobile...since the books I had have been here for a looong time.  It was good to exchange them for something new!  We are dorky and like to take pics of al the babies together.  So here is her oldest daughter, Alexis, holding Julian, little Matt in the middle, and Kaitlyn holding Jonathan.  Cute kids.
And Aimee wanted a picture holding both babies.
And here are my cute babies showing off their $5.99 Old Navy outfits.  They were stoked.  Can you tell?  :)
And then came Halloween!  Here is Miss Jenica all dolled up like a kitty right before she went to school!
And here's Kaitlyn my cute little witch, heading off to preschool for her big Halloween party!  She's my little poser, that's for sure!
Then I fed the babies and headed over to the school to watch the costume parade.  I ran into Aimee right when I got there so we sat together.  She held one of my babies for a minute...so here she is with my cute little sock monkey...I want to say it's Jonathan, but I honestly can't remember and they look too much a like.  Does that make me a horrible mom??  :(
Then Jenica's class finally came around.  Silly girl had her coat on.  When I asked her why she didn't take her coat off, she said she forgot.  hehe  Oh well...she still looks cute!
The boys were sock monkeys during the day since they couldn't fit in their carseats with puffy penguin costumes on.  So here is Julian.
And I just love this picture of Jonathan!!  His little face peeking out looks so sweet!
And here are both my monkeys chilling in the awesome papasan swing my awesome friend Jane is letting me borrow!  Thanks Jane!  :)  They love it!
And then they sacked out and enjoyed a cuddly nap!
That evening Aimee's family came trick or treating at my house.  I had the boys in their penguin costumes and Matty was in his cute Mickey costume, so of course we posed them all together!  :)  Some day these poor boys are going to ask us why their crazy moms took so many pictures of them together!  Aimee's husband took the girls trick or treating with them, it was so nice.
The rest of the night we hung out over at Josh's parents house.  Not like it's far!  hehe  My brother in law came down with his family and him and Josh took all the kids trick or treating too.  So my kids really raked in a lot of candy.  We got a pic of all the grandkids (and the aunt) together.

Dr (aunt) Alicia, Hannah Montana Maddie, Kitty Jenica w/ penguin Julian, Witch Kaitlyn w/ penguin Jonathan, Princess Megan, and Spiderman Luke.  They had a lot of fun together!
And here are the penguins posing alone, again.
    And here is Jonathan...
    and Julian!
My sweet sister in law Angie (and my brother Willy too) sent me these adorable Bear outfits for my baby shower.  Aimee was over yesterday and Matt had a brown one on, so of course we posed them together again!  hehe  Here are my boys alone first.  Jonathan in Blue, Julian in brown!
And here they are with Matt!!  :)  Cute boys!
So sorry about the massive amount of pictures!!  But at least now I'm caught up, I'll try to do better.  Life is crazy sometimes!!  :)
