Before our trip I tried to do a little research for stuff to do at Tahoe. I found a blog that had a list of restaurants one must try. I'd never had sushi before, Josh has and loves it, so I decided to give it a try. We went to this cute little place called Off The Hook Sushi. It was delicious!
First we had a spicy tuna roll (with cucumber and green onion). It was good, but a little too spicy for me.
Next we had my very favorite. It was called the superstar (unagi (eel), salmon, cream cheese and macadamia nuts).
We sat at the sushi bar, it was fun to get to talk to the guy making our sushi. He even gave us a few things "on the house". He gave me an avocado roll when I was complaining that the tuna was too spicy. Then he gave us some seared albacore with garlic. It was soooo good. Almost tasted like steak, same consistency too.
Then we got talking about unagi and he was telling us it tastes like chicken. I'm sorry...I had no desire to eat EEL! But he made these for us and the seriously tasted like teriyaki chicken. It was delicious. I just couldn't think about what I was eating and just think about how tasty it was.
I guess I loved it all!! The strange thing was the sushi makers (for lack of a better word) were totally getting drunk. They both had a big glass of beer and were doing Saki shots. They probably thought we were weird for not drinking. It is so different than being in Utah, that's for sure. We went to a brewery on Saturday for lunch and we kept telling the guy we were good with our water, but he kept asking us if we wanted some beer. Guess that's what we get for going to a brewery. The food was delicious though! :)
